The seminar will discuss how one can estimate the power production of a wind farm with industrial methods such as wake models.
The uncertainties of these models will be mentioned together with new industrial challenges.
5 minutes: Introduction
30 minutes: Farm production estimation methods
10 minutes: Blockage effects and new challenges
15 minutes discussion
Antonio Segalini got his PhD at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2010 and became researcher in wind energy in 2013 at
KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden). He has been active in the experimental, numerical and theoretical
analysis of wind-turbine and wind-farm flows as well as in the description of the atmospheric boundary layer by means of
measurements and modelling. Other research areas include turbulent boundary layer scaling and linear stability analysis of
laminar and turbulent flows.
Introduction To Intelligent Systems
Date: 12/11/2020 | Time: 15:30 - 16:30 Cairo Time
The webinar is an introductory lecture on the topic Intelligent Systems and provides an overview of this field.
Terms such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and soft computing are introduced and explained.
The differences and similarities between these fields are also described.

C-ITS: Insights From EU Perspective
Date: 11/11/2020 | Time: 11:00 - 12:00 Cairo Time
Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) is a well-advancing and demanding
trend over the last decades. The target would be to establish high level of automation
on public roads (SAE L4/L5), ultimately reducing as much as possible road accidents which
are over 90% caused by human error.
The webinar “C-ITS: Insights from EU perspective” is compliant to the
H2020 principles and focuses on the Electrical Engineering sector, addressing
Egyptian Engineers either under- or post- graduate. Telecommunication, connectivity,
positioning, (cyber)security and safety are just a few engineering pillars that are
constantly evolving under the C-ITS umbrella. Many challenges arise that an engineer is
called to overcome, solve, support, maintain and improve today and in the near future.
Given the increased amount of tele-conferences and webinars due to COVID-19 pandemic,
this webinar will be as concise as possible and not exceed 60 minutes in total.
In this time frame, it will struggle to give a short overview on C-ITS and the
huge potential behind it, motivating juvenile Egyptian Engineers to follow this
Engineering path through research (academic or applied), industry or any other job
opportunity, given that their proactive involvement in the field will be an asset for
